Ethical Philosophies

These philosophies define how one thinks and handles situations on a small scale such as allowing a person to jump in front of them in line to a larger scale to risking their life or everyones life. There is different philosophies but six that cover the general majority of how decisions are made.

The first is Golden Rule. In a text for enturpernuers it gives the rule a different name called Rules and Duty: Deontology and describes it as the basic principle of how to treat people. It says, " a course of action that would be good for all persons at all times. There are two requirements for a rule of action to be universal: consistency and reversibility." (major ethical philosophies)

The second is Hedonism which is the greek word for pleasure with the original intent of maximizing pleasure rather than worrying about the next day. Later in history, it was changed and more used to create phases like "live for today".

The third Golden mean is finding a middle ground not based on actual mathematics of it all but what is right for the situation at the time.

The fourth, Categorical Imperative, states itself as following rules as right is right and wrong is wrong in whatever situation whether it is extreme conditions or not.

Utilitarianism is the fifth philosophy and in a blog about Ethical Philosophies in Depth is calls the philosophy Consequentialism and "a type of ethical theory that judges human practices, like actions or rules, based on their consequences. Human practices that produce good consequences are morally right, while ones that produce bad consequences are morally wrong. Roughly speaking, a consequentialist says that you should do certain things, because those actions produce good consequences." (Apollo et al., 2019)

Veil of Ignorance is the last ethical philosophy and it describes that in any situation no matter who is involved and your relationship with them you are going to do what's right.

I tend to follow mostly golden rule or golden mean. I like for everyone to feel established or feel as if they are heard. It comes mostly from my upbringing when I was younger and my grandmother made sure that no matter what, neither color of skin or finances, that you treat everyone the same

As I get older it seems that it is harder to keep this going because people do not have the same way of thinking. No one's thinking is wrong but I believe that it is more so right because one will never understand what another goes throughly completely. The only problem that tends to occur is that some people treat themselves rougher than others and not everyone should be treated that way or people take that kindness for weakness.
